YELLOWPINE.

~LABOR DAY WEEKEND~
Sunday the weather turned on us a bit but that didn't stop us from touring my favorite little backcountry town, Yellowpine.  The area surrounding Yellowpine is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.  The town of Yellowpine itself--absolutely strange!  It is so weird, though, I can't help but LOVE IT!  We drove into Yellowpine for an afternoon where I returned to all of my favorite places--just to make sure they were still there!  The forest fires last year came SO CLOSE to both Yellowpine and Deadwood.  Fortunately, Yellowpine itself was spared from the massive fire and, I was happy to find, is still as strange as ever!  Someday I'm going to own a cabin in Yellowpine.  I think I'll fit right in!

OUR FIRST STOP WAS AT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.

AND THEN THE GOLF COURSE.

HOW APPROPRIATE THAT A GOLF COURSE FULL OF TREES BE SPONSORED BY THE FOREST SERVICE.  NICE GREENS TOO, EH?

AND THEN I STOPPED BY THE UNIVERSITY.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE YELLOWPINE!

NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING AT THE CEMETERY?
DARN!  I SO WANTED TO CAMP THERE!

AND NO VISIT TO YELLOWPINE WOULD BE COMPLETE WITHOUT A VISIT TO THE DUMP!
THE BEARS THINK SO TOO!

DAD MAKING A DEPOSIT AT THE DUMP AND JESSIE ADMIRING SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE DEPOSITED!  YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GONNA FIND AT THE DUMP!

MY FAVORITE SECTION OF JOHNSON CREEK.
RUGGED, WILD, OUT-OF CONTROL--BEAUTIFUL!
WAIT, ME OR THE RIVER? :)
