THANKSGIVING 2009.

What can I say about Thanksgiving this year? It was certainly untraditional! Poor Mr. Gabe came down with the SWINE FLU, right before Turkey Day! He was one sick little monkey! Therefore, Thanksgiving was . . . CANCELLED!!! I did end up going to Cascade to be with Mom and Dad but even that was up in the air until the LAST minute! Although I was vaccinated for H1N1 at work, we weren't sure if ANYONE in the family was going to be feeling well enough to get together! Mom and Dad did ultimately bypass the flu so we were able to have dinner after all! We ate a big, beautiful dinner, wrote out our traditional "I'm-thankful-fors," got a Christmas tree and put together a puzzle! Although the day felt sort of lonely, I was grateful for being able to at least spend the day with Mom and Dad! It was a nice long weekend in the mountains! Before I left, Gabe started feeling a bit better. We spent one afternoon at Laura's house, enjoying the kids! I was shocked to see how much Nurse Mommy had to do--and could only imagine how exhausted she must have been! I convinced her to sneak into town for a few hours so she could have a nice break while Nana watched the kids! This year we were mostly thankful that they eventually beat that nasty old flu!

Not knowing if I would get to eat a traditional turkey dinner, I made sure to have one of my FAVORITE TURKEY SANDWICHES from Marie Callendar's!

BUT MOM MADE A SPECTACULAR DINNER FOR THREE!

DAD, MOM AND I

WE ALL WROTE OUT WHAT WE WERE THANKFUL FOR (A TRADITION MY MOM HAS LONG STOOD BY). I HAD GOTTEN A TERRIFIC IDEA FOR A THANKSGIVING TREE FROM THE LADIES AT WORK. WE'RE SAVING ALL THE PIECES FOR NEXT YEAR . . . WHEN THINGS WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL!

I LOVE PUZZLES!

WE PUT TOGETHER A GOOD HARD ONE WITH CHICKENS ON IT!
(THEY ARE ALMOST TURKEYS, RIGHT?)

MY FAVORITE PART OF THANKSGIVING IS THAT IT IS THE KICKOFF TO THE CHRISTMAS SEASON! THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING MEANS THE TREE GOES UP!

MOM HAD A VERY UNUSUAL IDEA FOR HER TREE THIS YEAR SO
WE PUT ON OUR COATS . . .

YES ALL OF US!
THANKS TO DANIELLE AND COPPER DOG FOR MAKING JACKSON THIS AWESOME BSU COAT!

AND WE HEADED DOWN TO THE BACK PART OF THE PROPERTY TO CUT THE TREE!
JACKSON IS SO SPOILED! HIS COAT IS AWESOME. BUT IT STILL DOESN'T COVER HIS WIENER PARTS THAT DRAG IN THE SNOW! :O)

YOU'LL HAVE TO STAY TUNED TO SEE THE FINAL DECORATED TREE!

UH-OH! I GOT PULLED OVER IN CASCADE.

SO DANNY COULD SAY HELLO!
:)

THIS SNOWMAN WAS IN FRONT OF LAURA'S HOUSE.
SINCE THERE WASN'T MUCH SNOW, IT WAS ABOUT SIX INCHES TALL!
CUTE -- EVEN THOUGH THE DOG ATE HIS CARROT NOSE!

IT WAS GOOD TO SEE GABE FEELING BETTER!

WHILE WE WERE THERE, CLAIRE INSISTED ON SHOWING ME HER PURSE AND PROCEEDED TO PULL OUT THE CONTENTS, ONE BY ONE.

I ABSOLUTELY CRACKED UP WHEN SHE PULLED OUT A TOY GUN!
I GUESS EVERY WOMAN SHOULD CARRY A PISTOL IN HER HANDBAG!
