COBLE CABIN SLEDDING.

Last weekend my Uncle Ben and Aunt Lin hosted an amazing sledding party at their cabin in Cascade.  With several inches of fresh snow on the ground, their timing couldn't have been more perfect!  We ended up with quite a crowd which made for a thoroughly entertaining afternoon!  We did some serious sledding but that was about the only serious thing about our afternoon together!  Our family get-togethers certainly tend to be filled with a great deal of laughter!  Ben and Lin are terrific hosts and made sure that all of us were thoroughly entertained and completely stuffed!  Fortunately they play hard and, if you are lucky enough to be in on one of their adventures, they will make sure you get to play hard too! In fact, I started calling Uncle Ben the Sled Natzi  If he happened to catch you standing around at the top of the hill, he seriously encouraged you to scoot your bottom down that hill in a hurry!  There was no point in arguing with him.  You learned to just grab a sled and bomb down the hill!  Fun is not optional when Uncle Ben is around--its a guarantee!

Before heading out to the hill, we roasted hot dogs over a fire out front and
ate bowls of Mom's homemade chili!  Yummy!

And Makayla absolutely fell in LOVE with Molly!

THREE OF MY FAVORITE LITTLE GIRLS

She completely skipped lunch to love on the puppy!
We are SO related!

I had to wait until she finally went outside before I got a turn!

AUNT LIN AND CLAIRE

Claire said, "Aunt Lin scares me" which we all thought was hilarious!
Including Aunt Lin!  Claire is just too funny!  My aunt is so wonderful and sweet!

And she is so much FUN too!

After all that eating, loving and laughing we were ready to sled!

AT THE END OF OUR TWO HOURS OF SLEDDING, I WAS A TIRED GIRL!

BEFORE WE ALL WENT OUR SEPARATE WAYS, THEIR WERE SMORES TO BE ROASTED!
THIS IS UNCLE BEN'S RACK OF MARSHMALLOWS!

LAURA DIDN'T GET TO GO SLEDDING.
THIS GIGANTIC BELLY HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT!

SO I HAD MY TRADITIONAL TALK WITH MY NEPHEW AND ASKED IF HE COULD COME OUT AND PLAY.  AND YOU KNOW WHAT?
IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!  HE WAS BORN LESS THAN 12 HOURS LATER!

I ALSO DISCOVERED THAT GRANDMA HELEN IS THE FIRST PERSON I KNOW
WHO TAKES MORE PICTURES THAN I DO!

THANK YOU UNCLE BEN AND AUNT LIN FOR THE WONDERFUL AFTERNOON!

NOW I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF WINTER ALREADY!
BRING ON SPRING!!!

VALENTINE'S DAY 2009.

I have to say, my nephew Garrett, hands-down, got the BEST Valentine this year!  There are only THREE girls in Garrett's class and one of those little girls wrote him a card that says, Garrett B.--good, loving, caring man!  He is in SECOND GRADE!!!  What a stud!

Valentine's Day was a busy day for me this year!  As I was in Cascade, waiting for my youngest nephew to arrive, I was able to be with all of my family!  My sister Laura had spent Wednesday night in the hospital after her labor started but then abruptly stopped.  They discharged her Thursday morning but warned her that when her labor started again,  it would likey progress very quickly.  Makayla's last basketball game was Saturday morning so all of us attended that--fully expecting Coach Laura to deliver right there on the gym floor!  Fortunately, she was able to coach her last game without making school history!  I have to say, I am pretty proud of her for coaching basketball MEGA-PREGO!

After the game we went downtown and ate at Grandma's Restaurant, where my Aunt Brenda just happened to be cooking!  Knowing she would be preparing our meal, we put in a few special requests with our orders.
Small towns ROCK!

For Valentine's Day Dad made this BIRDHOUSE for my mom!

He modeled her birdhouse after this drawing in one of her calendars!
Isn't he awesome?!

And Mom gave Dad NIGHT VISION GOGGLES!

We are going to have way too much fun with these!

And FINALLY, my cousin Cassie got me hooked on making these . . .
